Drug abuse, alcohol addiction, tobacco usage among teens is not a “new thing” among young people. Every year, Red Ribbon Week activities across the nation try to encourage students to choose a drug-free life. This year’s theme is: “Life is a Journey. Do it Drug Free.”

Counselors at ROMS are asking students to be proactive and creative about encouraging each other to live drug free. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 22 – Oct. 26. Each day there will be a different way for  ROMS students to express their support of a drug free lifestyle.

Starting now and ending October 25, students will be able to create their own video public service announcements (PSA) and/or posters. They can use mobile devices and online apps to shoot, edit and post their videos to the ROINTHEKNOW Twitter page or ROINTHEKNOW Instagram (or videos will be uploaded to ROINTHEKNOW.COM) where people in our community will have the chance to vote for their favorite. The winning entries will be announced Friday, October 26. Winners will celebrate with an ice cream social.

The Challenge: Go solo or work with a team to produce a public service announcement (one to three minutes maximum, please) or a large poster for a glass window.

Additional information along with entry forms will be available for download or from the ROMS main office and Sixth Grade Center main office. Send videos to [email protected].
