Ms. Thompson and 7th grade student

Ms. Thompson is a seventh grade math teacher at Red Oak Middle School. This year marks her 20th year of teaching. She earned a Bachelor of Science in EDCI from Texas A&M University. She began teaching at Rockwall ISD in 1998. She currently teaches math for 7th grade, Pre-Ap and regular.

She has been teaching here for two years. She had three sons, only two now, age 34, and 30. One was sadly deceased at age 11. Thompson’s favorite math subject to teach is equations. Her favorite grade she has taught is 7th grade.

Thompson  wanted to teach because she loved school as a kid and wanted others to love school as much as she did when she was younger. Her least favorite subject to teach was reading, which she taught prior to teaching math.

“I decided to teach here because I had a friend who taught here and said the parents, teachers, and administrators were the best she had known,” she stated.

“What I enjoy most about teaching is when I can see my students grasp what I’m teaching,” Thompson says.  She takes the time to explain the subject to you if you’re struggling, and is patient.
