Students and staff participated in spring Safety Day Jan. 15, which involved the practice of four drills so that they know what to do in case of emergency.

According to administrators, Safety Day went well.

“It was the best Safety Day ever,” Assistant Principal Todd Bramwell said.

The drills practiced included a fire drill/evacuation during first period, a tornado drill during third period, a lockdown during fifth period and a face-to-face bomb threat notification for teachers during sixth period.

With the tornado that happened Dec.26, safety continues to be a No. 1 priority, according to Superintendent Scott Niven.

“Safety is always taken very seriously in Red Oak, and that is why we practice the drills,” Niven said.
