Red Oak Middle School is currently looking for interested students to take part in academic UIL (University Interscholastic League) competitions, set for Feb. 16 and Feb. 20.

Contest categories include art, calculator applications, chess puzzle, dictionary skills, editorial writing, mathematics, spelling and more.

“This contest was designed to better expand on what the students learn in the classroom, both through learning specific knowledge and the learning skills that are of value to many disciplines,” assistant principal and UIL campus coordinator Maricela Torres said.

The Feb. 16 competition will take place in the ROMS learning commons, and the Feb. 20 competition will take place at Ennis Middle School. Coaches for each event will be announced soon.
