Beginning next school year, Red Oak Intermediate School will be renamed Russ Schupmann Elementary and Red Oak Junior High School will be Red Oak Middle School.

The new names were chosen at a special school board meeting May 18. To decide what names would be chosen for the schools, an open form was on ROISD’s website for people to enter ideas, and the school board picked the names they thought would be the most appropriate for the schools.

“ROMS, [Red Oak Middle School, is]. a good name for a new start,” ROJH principal Cristi Watts said, “[and I] love it, [Ross Schupmann Elementary, because] he’s contributed a lot to the district.”

After the new names were chosen, the district kept up the Namesake Nomination forms on the district website for future school title ideas.
