Symphonic bands to perform April 9 and 10

Red Oak Junior High’s Symphonic One and Symphonic Two bands will perform their UIL pieces for judges April 9 and 10.

“[Band UIL] is not a competition, it’s a performance in front of judges in which they will be ranked a 1, 2, 3 or 4, with 1 being the highest, like the STAAR [writing] test,” ROJH band teacher Megan Czerwieski said.

Both bands will perform at the Red Oak High School Performing Arts Center. Each band will perform three selections and a sight reading piece.

The ROJH bands have been working since January to prepare for this event.

“This is a challenging but enjoyable experience that will make us better,” first chair euphonium Jarod Racck said.
