Swift shows real ‘Style’ with new music video

Swift shows real Style with new music video

Courtney Jackson, In-depth reporter

On Feb. 13, Taylor Swift launched her “Style” music video. After watching the music video multiple times, I love it.

“Style” is from Swift’s newest album “1989” and most people believe the song is about Taylor’s most recent breakup with Harry Styles (hence the name of the song).

First of all, I really like the song. The beat really flows with the words, and I like the rhythm. I may not be a genius when it comes to music, but I know that this song sounds great compared to what some other teens are listening to.

In the video, I noticed how the guy, Dominic Sherwood, is in a lot of shots. The music video was focused around Dominic and Taylor’s “love,” but the public knows who this song is really about: Styles. I think it would have been better if she got Harry to be in the “Style” video himself, but I doubt he would agree to that.

My favorite part about the whole video is the visual effects. All of the broken mirrors add a haunted and mysterious feel. I also like all of the water and beachy scenes because it contrasts with the dark side of the video, and really pulls it all together. I absolutely love all of the projection with the faces and the body and nature; it goes hand-in-hand with the silhouettes.

All in all, I think the video and song was excellent, and it goes well with Taylor’s change in music style.
