Beginning in the fall of 2015, ROHS will be home to an engineering program sponsored by Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

The engineering class will be held on the high school campus for the most part; the other location for it will be at the junior high. Although the class will be held on the junior high campus part of the time, only high school students can enroll in the course.

The Red Oak School Board has decided to start up an engineering program after being awarded a $35,000 grant. The class will allow students to have another choice of elective.

“This is just another option for you to choose from,” Superintendent Scott Niven said.

The grant will be used to grow the program over a three-year time period. Certain teachers will be trained to teach the course and students will see what the class is like. Also, as the years go on, the class will grow to have both regular and Pre-AP classes.

“We want to have a top-notch program for our students,”  Niven said.
